Faye Wong Is Back

After disappearing from showbiz for five years, diva Faye Wong (王菲) held her first comeback concert in Beijing on Friday night to a packed stadium of 18,000 people.

Appearing in six outfits, Faye sang 23 songs, including her classic Hong Dou (Red Bean, 紅豆) and I’m Willing To (我願意) on the 3D stage decorated with glaciers and icicles at the Wukesong Culture and Sports Center.

She maintained her trademark style of “just singing, no talking.” The only words she said were xie xie (thank you), three times in total, during the 105-minute show.
She is scheduled to hold 10 concerts in Beijing and Shanghai.

In January next year, she will sing at Taipei Arena.

China’s number one songbird Faye Wong (王菲) went off key when she sang her trademark song Hong Dou (Red Bean, 紅豆) at her first comeback concert in Beijing on Friday night. She then flashed an embarrassing smile.

The video clip has been wildly circulated on the Internet. Her concert producer Chiu Li-kuang (邱瓈宽) on Sunday tried to spin the incident and claimed Faye did not go off key and “her vocal condition was excellent throughout the concert.”
