Lady Gaga Asia Tour

Lady Gaga to tour China, HK and Taiwan

Playboy Edison Chen (陈冠希) has teamed up with showbiz tycoon Peter Lam (林建岳) to organize Lady Gaga’s concerts in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China in 2012.

The pair reportedly offered a sky-high price of over HK$100 million (nearly US$13 million) to put the Paparazzi singer on the stage in Asia, after her performance at a Macau hotel last year caused a frenzy.

Edison posted a photo of them at a meeting with the singer’s manager on his Sina Weibo microblog, on Wednesday, saying “Gaga 2012 tour planning! Do u want to see her guys in China? Taiwan? HK? Wish me luck!”
Edison said Gaga’s manager, Troy Carter, is a long-time friend and Troy introduced him to Gaga.
“She is very nice and friendly. I admire her a lot. Really hope she can come to perform in Asia,” he said when interviewed on the phone from Los Angeles.

Ada Chooi is Pregnant

Guess what the stork is delivering?
Actor Max Zhang (张晋) happily announced on Tuesday that his actress wife Ada Choi (蔡少芬) is pregnant, after tying the knot in early 2008.

He said they had just been told the good news but did not disclose the due date and the baby’s sex.

As Ada will continue to shoot TV series until the Chinese New Year in February, Max has hired two assistants to take care of her.

He jokingly said the bad-tempered Ada is now even more prey to the emotional fluctuations of her hormones.

He added that though she suffers from morning sickness, she is still very happy.

Max has received tons of blessings from fans and celebrity friends.

The funniest microblog message, however, came from Ada herself, “Congratulations, Max. Yeah!”
Another jubilant mom-to-be Michelle Reis (李嘉欣), now five months pregnant, said her hubby Julian Hui (许晋亨) loves her figure even more now she has put on 5kg and described herself as “plump.”

Michelle declined to disclose when she will stop working, but a close friend of hers said the newborn will arrive in February.

She added Julian told her not to lose weight after delivery and quickly produce a second child.

Jackie Chan receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award

Jackie Chan takes foot out of mouth
Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan (成龙) appeared overwhelmed on receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award at the Asia Pacific Film Festival held in Taipei Saturday night.
“Too excited!” he panted when standing on the stage, clenching his fist.

“I thank those who don’t support me. Your criticisms pushed me forward to make progress.  With all those controversies in the past, I was good intentioned,” the 56-year-old said.

Despite being an international superstar, the straightforward Jackie has caused uproar on many occasions, making him a public target of condemnation.

In 2004, he criticized that Taiwan’s presidential election was “the biggest joke in the world.”
In 2009, he said at the Boao Forum that Chinese people had too much freedom and needed to be controlled.

In August, he expressed support on his Twitter account for the Filipino police, which poorly handled a hostage-taking crisis that involved HK citizens.

He also said Hong Kong people were not bitter about the incident, which drew flak from netizens.

Miriam Yeung Getting Married Soon

The Real Ting needs to wise up
Hong Kong singer-actress Miriam Yeung (杨千嬅) has spent nearly HK$50 million (US$6.4 million) preparing her “dowry”  ahead of her wedding banquet at the end of December.

She and hubby Real Ting (丁子高), former VRF band member and now a PR executive, registered their marriage in Las Vegas in August 2009.

Placing her husband’s needs as a priority, Miriam, one of the best-paid celebrities in the showbiz circle, recently forked out HK$45 million (US$5.8 million) on a luxurious apartment to become their love nest and two vehicles, one Mercedes-Benz and one BMW, for her mom-in-law and Real.

However, when asked whether his wife bought him real estate and cars, the 31-year-old Real quickly denied it, saying they are registered under his name.
The thinking is, Real thinks he’s a “real man” and not a toy boy. And it’s eating him up.
After news got out last year the two were married, Real was annoyed by media reports that Miriam makes more money than him and he claimed that he would not touch one cent of Miriam’s wealth.

Miriam earns over HK$10 million (US$1.3 million) a year, with assets estimated to surpass HK$100 million (US$13 million).

Real can only rely on a regular monthly salary of HK$25,000 (US$3,200).
Even so, Miriam has been very supportive of her hubby, saying Real’s biggest asset is his brain and work ability.

“He is a guy worth marrying. He is responsible and gives me a sense of security,” she said.
